The processes and the data collected during process execution are analyzed in process controlling. The data can describe performance and include other defined key figures. With the help of analyses, performance data, and key figures, the processes can be compared with each other. It is also possible to check whether set targets or regulations concerning compliance are being adhered to. New and more far-reaching findings from the analyses can and should be taken into account in renewed process optimization and process documentation. Process controlling is part of the Process Management Lifecycle and takes place after process execution.
How does Process Controlling work?
In process controlling, the processes carried out are checked and controlled. It is examined whether the process runs according to the defined process strategy and the applicable compliance. This is done on the basis of the key figures recorded during implementation. These indicators must be appropriately prepared. Depending on the already existing key figures, further key performance indicators may have to be measured, for example to determine the performance of the process. For this purpose, employee surveys, stop procedures, Process Mining or other procedures are helpful.
Once the data has been prepared, it can be analyzed. The analysis results must be interpreted. They should provide information on whether the process objectives have been achieved and compliance has been adhered to. Depending on the result, the following measures are defined for further improvement. The results of process controlling should be passed on to the process employees and other relevant persons, such as management.
