Process Implementation

Process implementation describes the complete implementation of a company’s target processes. In most cases, the target processes are the result of a previous process optimization, but in theory they can also be developed without reference to a previous optimization. As soon as the target processes have been implemented, they are considered the new actual processes. The process implementation is part of the process management lifecycle and takes place in this methodology after the process optimization.

How is a process implemented?

Process optimization eliminates the weak points of a process or adapts the process to changing conditions. The resulting target process is implemented as soon as it has been checked and released. During this process implementation, the executing employees and those involved in the process should be consulted and, if necessary, informed about appropriate changes in order to ensure that the target process is carried out in practice as planned. Depending on the type of process adaptation, a change in the organizational or technical conditions is made during implementation. This can include the introduction of a new IT system or the division of process steps.

In addition, when implementing a process, care must be taken to ensure that the process documentation is always up-to-date and that the previous target process becomes the actual process after implementation. This is important because the following analyses are carried out on the basis of the new actual model and form the basis for the next run of the process management lifecycle.
Once the process has been implemented, the persons involved can start executing the process. In the beginning, it makes sense to control the “new” process, collect key figures and compare them with existing key figures.

The process implementation is as follows:

1. Introducing the process and involving all stakeholders in the company

2. Updating process documentation

3. Reviewing the new process and collecting key figures

4. Comparing old (if available) and new key figures
